National Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Overweight, Obesity and Diabetes

This national strategy aims to control and prevent noncommunicable diseases, which cause very high levels of expenditure in the health system.

Description:

The strategy arises due to the magnitude and frequency with which the population suffers from overweight, obesity, diabetes, and other noncommunicable diseases. For the purposes of FULL, this document has the following highlights:

  • The strategy aims to carry out actions like health promotion; disease prevention; medical care; health regulation, and fiscal policy.

  • The Ministry of Health, in conjunction with the Ministry of Economy, is in charge of establishing frontal labeling for food and beverages that meets specific requirements.
