This ordinance establishes guidelines for promoting healthy diets in early childhood as well as in elementary and high schools.
Description:
This ordinance is applicable to all public and private schools:
- It highlights healthy diets as a human right (article 2), encouraging strategies for the promotion of health in school enviroments, specially through food and nutrition education actions, the production of school gardens, the monitoring of schoolchildren nutritional status, the implementation of good food handling practices (article 3, sections I, II, III, V).
- One of its main axes is the restriction of sale and commercial promotion of foods and preparations with high and fat contents, trans, free sugar, salt in the school environment (article 3, section IV).
