Description:

The National Nutrition Planning Guidelines for Uganda direct government sectors and local governments to integrate nutrition into development planning. The guidelines respond to gaps in coordinated nutrition planning across government levels. The document targets undernutrition and, to a lesser extent, overnutrition among vulnerable populations.

Regarding FULL purposes, the guidelines bring the following recommendations:

  • Schools should implement feeding guidelines.
  • Local governments should establish school gardens and connect them to nutrition education.
  • Schools should support agriculture or nutrition clubs and school health nutrition curriculum.
  • The government should establish Nutrition Coordination Committees at national, district, and sub-county levels.
