Standards Act

Summary:

This law is the general law prescribing minimum standards for commodities, including food.

Description:

Section 11 of the Standards Act empowers the Minister to make regulations “with respect to the packaging, labelling, description and advertising of any commodity for which a standard specification has been declared.”

The Standards (Labelling of Processed Food) Regulations is one of the relevant regulations made under the Standards Act with respect to the labelling of processed food.
