Description:
The Children Act (Chapter 141) is aimed at establishing child protection and justice measures, as well as regulating parental responsibility and alternative care. It also creates the National Council for Children’s Services.
Moreover, it establishes the “best interest of the child” (Article 8). Under this provission, the law provides for the protection of children’s rights in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya.
Furthermore, this act states children’s right to health care (Article 16). Under this provision “every child has the right to enjoy the best attainable state of physical, mental and psychological health”.
