- Food safety: it is a protection of the food supply from microbial, chemical, and physical hazards across all stages of the food chain (from production to consumption). It emphasizes its role in improving public health, nutrition, food security, trade, poverty reduction, and environmental protection.
- Food: a broad definition which includes water, beverages, live animals and plants, and any substance intended for human or animal consumption. It also includes ingredients, additives, or in preparation processes, including chewing gum and any substances declared as food by the Minister.
